Spring Has Sprung!
It’s finally here and I for one have been celebrating by getting out into the garden as much as I can.
Here I am hard at work amongst the Bluebells, keeping the sun off my head and looking fabulous in my Marnie Sun Hat styled with a Rosie Fox hair flower. I’ve been enjoying planting Clematis, Petunias, Fuchsias, Geraniums, Poppies, Nigella and Sunflowers. I’ve gone for pinks, purples, reds and yellows (lovely warm colours) I was even lucky enough to receive some tomato plants from a friendly new neighbour who was pleased to see someone had finally declared war on the very over grown, previously unloved bit of land that their balcony looks out over.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a garden, you don’t need soil and water to surround yourself with colourful blooms. Flowers are Mother Nature’s accessories and they can be yours too. If you’ve got an eye for colour or a creative streak for fashion then why not have some fun with flowers this spring.
Floral inspiration is all around us this time of year but what better place to look than the world famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. This year from 23rd – 27th May, the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea will be transformed into living works of art.

People to have previously been inspired by The RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the beauty of flowers include:
John Galliano’s magnificent designs for Christian Dior in Paris in 2010. “'I'm having a floral moment,' explained Galliano.
The cellophane “straight out of the florist shop” headpieces were created by milliner Stephen Jones who later went on to work with Vivienne Westwood, creating a Royal Ascot inspired wardrobe for the catwalk at the 2011 RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Princess Beatrice attended her Grandmother’s garden party at Buckingham Palace in May 2014 just after having spent the day with her Grandmother at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I think she looks lovely in her floral inspired outfit complete with a very elegant cream rose fascinator designed by Welsh milliner Robyn Coles. If like Princess Beatrice your hair contains hues of red or strawberry blonde, a natural colour like cream can be a very flattering colour choice. Why not pop into our Brighton shop where we have a large selection of fascinators to choose from. Our expert staff are always on hand to help you choose the perfect fascinator to compliment your outfit, hair colour and skin tone, we can even recommend accessories and make-up colours for you.
And then of course there’s my absolute favourite florist/artist of all time, Larry Walshe...
RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015. This stunning floral outfit by Larry Walshe features over 2,000 Peruvian ferns, spray roses, achillea, alstroemeria, dahlias and gloriosa lilies, not to mention the delicately hand crafted, ethereal butterfly fascinator.
RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2016. Like something out of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, this magical wedding gown by Larry Walshe is decorated with over 1200 real flowers, including delphiniums, hyacinths, spray roses and limonium and took over 200 hours to create.
If this blog has inspired you in anyway to increase your collection of floral accessories then why not check out our online shop to get your spring wardrobe really buzzing!
Right then, I’m off to water my hanging baskets and enjoy the wonderful blossom trees whilst they're still blooming….
Wishing you all a sunny Spring season.
