If you have found this page because someone has offered you work using our name, we are so sorry. It is a worrying thing to go through, and checking first was exactly the right thing to do.
Is TA and MHT Online Ltd genuine?
TA and MHT Online Ltd is the registered company name of TEGEN Accessories and Men's Hair Tools. It is a real company based in Brighton, and our company number is 14233016.
The job offers are not from us. We do not offer work-from-home packing or packaging jobs, and we have no connection to the people sending them. Scammers use our company name and number to look convincing.
How to check a genuine TEGEN job
Genuine TEGEN vacancies are advertised on Indeed, and every role is based in our Brighton office. You can find our current vacancies on our Work With Us page.
We will never
- Approach you about a job on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp or Telegram
- Advertise a role in a mobile game or a social media reel
- Ask you to pay a fee, or to buy a starter kit or equipment
- Ask for your bank details, or ask you to send money through a transfer app or crypto platform
- Offer paid work that you can do from home
What the scam looks like
The people behind it say they are recruiting for work-from-home “packaging” or “packing” roles, paying around £100 to £200 a day. It usually starts with a Facebook advert, a reel or a mobile game, and then quickly moves to WhatsApp or Telegram.
If you are asked to pay money to start work, or to release or withdraw earnings, please stop. That is a warning sign of this kind of scam.
If someone has contacted you
- Stop all contact with the people involved.
- Contact us before you reply to anything or share personal details, at report@tegenaccessories.co.uk.
- If you have screenshots of the messages or the advert, please send them. They help us get these accounts taken down and may stop someone else being targeted.
If you have already paid money
We are so sorry. Please do these things as soon as you can.
- Contact your bank or card provider straight away and tell them you have been the victim of a scam. If you sent the money from a UK bank account, you may be entitled to get it back under the Authorised Push Payment reimbursement rules, and acting quickly improves your chances.
- Report it on the Report Fraud website or call 0300 123 2040. If you are in Scotland, please call Police Scotland on 101 instead, as Report Fraud does not cover Scotland.
Please also be aware that people who have lost money to this scam are sometimes approached a second time by someone offering to recover it for a fee. That is a further scam. Nobody legitimate will ever ask you to pay to get your money back.
We cannot refund money paid to someone impersonating us, because it never reached us. We are happy to confirm in writing that this is a scam using our name, if that helps with your bank or your police report. Just email us at report@tegenaccessories.co.uk.
If you have seen a review about us from someone who was scammed
Some people who were targeted have left reviews about TEGEN on review sites, because the scam used our name. We are so sorry for what they have been through. They were never our customers, and the experience they describe was not with us.
What we are doing
We have reported this to Report Fraud and to Trading Standards, and we continue to chase them. We also report the adverts and accounts to the platforms involved. As they are not our accounts, there is often little the platforms can do, but we keep reporting.
