London Fashion Week : Hairstyle Inspiration

Now that London Fashion Week has come to an end, we are looking back at some of the most popular trends we saw this September. We loved all of the gorgeous outfits on the catwalk, but we particularly loved seeing the amazing hairstyles and accessories on display! We have put together a round-up of some of our favourite hairstyle and accessory trends from fashion week, along with some inspiration on how to create your own fashion week looks!

The middle parting style

The middle, or centre, parting was a huge trend at fashion week this autumn. Some designers displayed sleek middle partings with smoothed down hair or slicked back locks, whilst others went for a more loose and textured style.

This year, Burberry went for a sleek and smooth centre part style. This is perfect for creating a more formal and sophisticated look.

For this style, use the handle of our French Tail Comb to create your middle parting. At the top of your head, brush the hair backwards and then using the tail of the comb, separate your hair in the centre, in line with your nose. Brush the hair downwards with the comb on each side to achieve a smooth look, and hold it in place with hairspray. You could even try using hair gel to create a stylish wet look.Crystal Lilies Hair slides-Rosie Fox
To add something extra special to this look, add a sparkly crystal hair slide on each side. This will help the hair to stay in place, whilst adding some glamour to your outfit. Why not try our Crystal and Pearl Hair Slides or our Crystal Lily Hair Slides?

For a more relaxed or boho look, like we saw in the Roland Mouret show this year, try using a texturising spray or dry shampoo once you have parted your hair. This will create volume at the root, and help you to achieve an effortless style.
You could even use a curling wand to create loose curls or tousled waves. Our French handmade Narrow Hair Clips would be a great addition to this hair style. They come in a range of wearable yet unique colours which will compliment any hair colour and add a finishing touch to your everyday centre part style.

Headbands / Alice bands

Headbands have been a huge trend this year. Throughout summer we saw bright and colourful fabric headbands almost everywhere we looked! They look great pushing the hair back off the face, or to add a fun twist to a simple ponytail or bun hairstyle. So this Fashion Week we were on the lookout for more headband inspiration!

Paula Knorr and Hundred Showroom had some beautiful statement fabric headbands in their shows. We're so glad these aren't going anywhere as they are such an easy way to create a put-together hairstyle with minimal effort! Our fabric headbands come in a range of colours and prints, from fun and vibrant, to more muted and chic. Our Handmade Lace Headband is a versatile piece which could be worn casually or for special occasions!

With the autumn and winter months well on their way, we were glad to see some beautiful crystal headbands in Simone Rocha's catwalk show. They are perfect for the festive part season and instantly add glamour and sparkle to any outfit! Our Art Deco Crystal Hairband is perfect for special occasions, parties or even bridal hairstyles.

Scrunchies are making a massive comeback! We thought we'd left them in the 90's but scrunchies have certainly come back in to fashion and we love it! They are comfortable and easy to wear, come in all sorts of patterns and materials, and can add something special to many simple hairstyles.

Mark Fast London Fashion Week SS20

At this September's London Fashion Week, scrunchies were seen in the Mark Fast catwalk show, as well as Hundred Showroom's presentation. Mark Fast put vibrant, brightly coloured scrunchies at the base of long plaits to add a pop of colour to the hair. The look is simple to create but looks great it is likely to stay in place all day. You could also add some hairspray to get the slicked back look that was created for the catwalk show. Our Jersey Scrunchies come in a range of colours, from bright red or blue, to more muted black or navy. They are perfect for creating ponytails, or why not use them to recreate Mark Fast's catwalk style?

Hundred Showroom used crushed velvet scrunchies to decorate space buns in their Fashion Week presentation. Velvet is a great material for winter hairstyles and could be matched to a velvet bag or even a dress!
Our velvet scrunchies come in a range of wearable colours to add the perfect finishing touch to your ponytail, bun or plait! Or, if you want something a more subtle, you could try our Velvet Charm Hairbands from by Eloise. These strong, velvet hair elastics are finished with a gold heart charm and look just as great around your wrist when you aren't wearing them in your hair.

So that's it! London Fashion Week is all over and we'll have to wait until February for our next fashion fix. There were some great hairstyles and accessories this year and we definitely got some inspiration for things to try out over the autumn and winter months.
